For Canadians, the company writes an offer letter for the individual, no formal petition required. For Mexicans, the company must submit a formal petition (same petition as an H-1B). c) WHERE/HOW DO THEY APPLY? For Canadians, the individual applies at a border crossing or airport. For Mexicans, the company submits the petition to an BCIS Service Center. Once the petition is approved, the individual applies at the consulate for a visa. d) HOW LONG DOES PROCESSING TAKE? For Canadians, processing time at the border could take one to several hours. For Mexicans, 24 to 48 hours. e) HOW LONG IS VALIDITY? Validity for is one year, with extensions available in one-year increments. No outside limitation.
